Dear Mother Earth
Today is your day Because every day is your day. To us, you are the sun and the moon. This is the way. We bond with you on every inhale, We are in your debt as we exhale. Let us not forget as we walk through the forest with you. Your vast beauty is beyond the pale. Sad but true, I can feel your sighs. Your oceans too hot. Coral cries for colder tides. The warming has the smells of human rot. Staring at our screens Our heads are buried in our phones. We could look deep into the night. But we choose to be alone. There are places in our world. Where the stars cannot be seen Covered by our man-made insanity. Are we stupid or just mean? Today, we could pause And ponder how we would live without her? How much more could she cherish us? Yet all we want are things that rust. Pause to feel her loving heart. Our dear mother, who gives the bounty of life. She loves us with sun and rain. She loves us through our greed and pain. She gives us every reason. To enjoy every season She gives us unconditional life. And never ever any treason. How will you honor her today?
